The Ministry of Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care is seeking your feedback on proposed amendments to the Swimming Pools and Other Water Recreation Facilities. The proposed amendments serve the public interest by enhancing safety, protecting public health, and supporting local businesses. This Regulation reduces the risk of illness or injury and prevents the spread of communicable diseases. Lowering the minimum lifeguard age (with adult supervision) increases the availability of qualified lifeguards, improving safety at facilities. Additionally, alleviating limitations to water analysis requirements allows more laboratory businesses to offer testing services, helping pool operators maintain compliance and ensure safety. These amendments promote public health and safety while having minimal social, economic, and environmental impacts.
